RESTLESS LEG

Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS), also called Willis-Ekbom Disease, causes unpleasant or uncomfortable sensations in the legs and an irresistible urge to move them. Symptoms commonly occur in the late afternoon or evening hours, and are often most severe at night when a person is resting, such as sitting or lying in bed.

SYMPTOMS

Restless Leg is often accompanied by symptoms of tingling or itching sensations, painful cramping especially in the calves, leg jerking, throbbing, and general aching pain in the legs. This condition is often seen alongside those with insomnia, fatigue, depression, and anxiety. Restless Leg is typically worsened by long periods of sitting, iron deficiency, high caffeine and/or alcohol consumption, low vitamin B12 and magnesium levels, and some medications.

TREATMENT

Regular exercise, a well-balanced diet, and good sleep habits can help alleviate Restless Leg symptoms. In some cases, treatment of underlying conditions like Iron Deficiency can resolve RLS. Diagnosis and treatment of Restless Leg is best handled by a medical professional and can be diagnosed through an in-lab sleep study with SCNA.
